As all of you who attended this years A.G.M. will be aware the Staffordshire Society is increasing its subscriptions and changing the way they are collected. It has been agreed that the new rates will apply from April 1st 2007 and will be £12 for a single membership. Joint membership will be £20 per year and Life membership will now be £200.These increases are necessary because the Society's administration costs now exceed the annual membership income. As a result we are reducing our reserves by about £1400 per year.

To ease the burden on members and to bring the Society into line with current financial practice we have decided to move from Standing orders to Direct debits. This system is designed to simplify the process of making regular payments and provides an absolute guarantee that any errors made by the Society or your bank will be refunded as soon as they become known.

We hope that members will understand the need for these changes. All members will have now received a copy of our latest newsletter which explains the changes in more detail.

The Staffordshire Society would like to welcome Dr. Donald Mole as its new President. Mr. Mole was born in Kingswinford and is a retired Dental Surgeon. I am sure many of you will meet him during the next two years at our many events.
