About Us..
The Staffordshire
Society was founded in 1905 by a small group of
Staffordshire men living in London.
The objectives of the society are:
[a] To maintain a society representing the geographical County of Stafford,
which will seek to make people aware of their Staffordshire heritage.
[b] To hold social gatherings which encourage cordiality
and good fellowship amongst its members.
[c] To support deserving institutions or Appeals identified
within the County of Stafford.
In order
to qualify for membership you should have been, born in the County or have
descended from Staffordshire parentage or else have resided in the County
for five years.
Candidates for membership must be elected by the council before being admitted
to the
privileges of the Society. If you do not know of any Staffordshire Society
members leave
your details and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Press the "Join
Us" button
for more information.
We endeavour to arrange events and visits throughout the year to meet varying
tastes.
These include our Annual Dinner, held in November and our AGM held usually
in April, as
well as visits to places of historical interest in the County and its surrounding
area.
Many of
you will know about this site through the Staffordshire Newsletter, which
we produce for our members, so that they may be updated on news and events
around
the Staffordshire area and within our Society. Now, however, we have this
fast, new website! We went live on May 6th 2001! Don't forget that we
